INTRODUCTION
Designers, racing enthusiasts, builders
This is us, Anthony & Flore, co-founders of The Modern Racer. Born and raised in France, we both hold masters degrees in automotive design and collectively have 30 years of experience within the OEM auto industry. We’ve worked for GM, Land Rover, PSA Peugeot-Citroen (now Stellantis), Toyota and Ford, along with experience in motorcycles at Ducati & helicopters at Airbus Helicopters.
In 2015, we decided to embark on a new adventure and leave the old continent to move to USA and live our passion in the Motor City, Detroit. Our day job at Ford motor Company has given us the opportunity to work on both exterior and interior designs for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, develop driving experiences, design concept cars as well as racecars. Going from initial sketch to final CAD release, our experience spreads across multiple fields of expertise which allows us to lead and manage projects from start to completion. The only thing we were missing at work was the “build”, so we decided to fix that!
SEMA 2023 was the opportunity for us to showcase our know-how with our 1968 Plymouth Barracuda T/A build. From top to bottom, no stone was left unturned on this vehicle, and everything was done in-house by ourselves. The design, the new suspension geometry, the color and materials, the selection of key partners who fit the build perfectly, and the fabrication and paint / body were all part of our vision, and we executed it all. We now want to offer our experience to clients who want to create their own unique custom build, capitalizing on our experience and knowledge in order to provide a turn-key experience, all under the same roof.

I grew up in a world of racing bikes, vintage cars and motorcycles, jet powered model planes and other fun toys that my dad and grandfather would build during the summer vacations. By the age of 5, I was sketching cars and bikes all the time. At 13, I got my first internship in a design studio and was hooked. This was my future! At 22, I graduated with honors from Strate, one of the leading design schools on the planet, and went to work for LandRover in UK, shortly after an internship at Ducati in Italy where I was lucky enough to collaborate with the designers of the Diavel and Panigale. I later moved to Germany to join GM Europe. This is when my love for racetracks and trackdays really flourished. I spent every weekend at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, modifying my car to go faster every time.
After a couple years in France, I moved to the US to join Ford. In the past 8 years, I’ve been the designer of the Mustang Mach 1, the Mach E 1400, Mustang S650 GT3, V8 Supercars, Factory X, and finally the 2025 Mustang GTD. My work with Ford Performance has also provided me with the opportunity to work on the 2023 Pikes Peak program, 2025 DAKAR Raptor program and all the racing variants of the 7th generation Mustang. Always eager to learn, I got way more involved than a regular designer would with the engineering, vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics teams.

A car addict since 8, a lover of art, doodling all the time, I took my passion and turned it in to my dream career.I started at Creapole Design School Paris in 2007, finishing a Master’s in Transportation Design. I had the opportunity to do three internships at Forvia, working with Peugeot Motorcycle and PHR Yacht Design. I got my first job offer right after obtaining my diploma with honors. I started working for Airbus Helicopter in fall 2012. In 2014 I had the opportunity to go back to my first love, the car industry with a job offer at Peugeot. I received a job offer from Ford and moved to the US in November 2016.
I have been in the industry for 12 years and, during that time, I developed multiple competences, always learning from the people and experiences around me while keeping myself informed of new software and technology.
Colleagues describe me as as the French Swiss army knife of design
In recent years, we started applying this knowledge to our own builds, starting with our Barracuda. The unique rear cantilever 4 link triangulated suspension and the eye-catching 4-2-1 equal length stainless headers are two key elements of this build. Meanwhile, all the body modifications were initially sketched by hand then drawn up in CAD to validate the concept, before being hand-built at home. The final step, as usual, is to generate a high quality and high fidelity 3D render to finalize the color and materials choices before going into paint.
